Terms of Service

  • Effective date 2026-04-18
  • Last updated 2026-06-19

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Cashflow mobile applications for iOS and Android and this website (cashflow.ndl.cc). By installing, accessing, or using Cashflow, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the apps or the website.

Who we are

For the purposes of this Privacy Policy and these Terms, “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to William Tyler, the developer of Cashflow, and any successor or assign — that is, any person or entity to whom he sells or otherwise transfers his rights in the Cashflow software. Your acceptance of these terms continues to apply to any such successor or assign.

Cashflow is a check register and account ledger application for tracking and projecting personal finances. cashflow.ndl.cc is the marketing and support site for the apps.

Acceptable use

You may use Cashflow for your own personal finance tracking. You agree not to:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the apps except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits.
  • Use the apps to violate any law or the rights of others.
  • Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Cloud Backup service or the servers, systems, or networks that support it.

Your data and your responsibilities

Cashflow is a tool that records what you enter. You are responsible for the accuracy of the data you put into it, and for any financial decisions you make based on it. Cashflow does not provide financial, tax, legal, accounting, or investment advice, and nothing in the app or on the website should be relied upon as such.

You are responsible for maintaining your own backups of your data. By default your financial data is stored only on your device; if you uninstall the app, reset your device, or lose your device without a backup, that data is gone. See Backup & Restore for how to protect your data.

For details on how your information is handled, see the Privacy Policy. For instructions on deleting data the app stores, see the Data Deletion Request page.

Cloud Backup

Cloud Backup is an optional feature you turn on by signing in with a Cashflow account. When enabled, the app uploads an end-to-end-encrypted copy of your data to our servers. The following terms apply to Cloud Backup:

  • Optional and opt-in. Cloud Backup is off until you sign in and enable it. You may turn it off at any time.
  • Best-effort service, no SLA. Cloud Backup is provided on a best-effort basis. We do not guarantee any particular level of availability, uptime, durability, or performance, and we provide no service-level agreement. The service may be modified, suspended, or discontinued at any time.
  • We keep the latest 5 backups. We retain the 5 most recent backups per device. Older backups are pruned automatically as new ones are created. Do not rely on Cloud Backup as your only copy of important data.
  • End-to-end encrypted. Each backup is encrypted on your device before it is uploaded, with a key that is locked by a backup password only you know. We store the locked key alongside the encrypted backup in your account, but we never receive your backup password, so we cannot read the contents of your backups under normal operation.
  • Layered access — keep your account and your backup password. Two factors protect your data from outsiders: your sign-in account gates who can reach the encrypted backup and the locked key (owner-only security rules), and your backup password unlocks the key. You set this password as a required step when you turn Cloud Backup on. You restore silently on a device that already holds the unlocked key (the same phone, or a same-platform new phone set up through your platform account), or by entering your backup password on a new phone or after switching platforms. You are responsible for maintaining both your sign-in account and your backup password; we strongly suggest you do not reuse your Google or Apple account password as your backup password. The honest limit of our end-to-end guarantee: because the encrypted backup and the locked key are stored on our infrastructure, someone with administrative access to that infrastructure could attempt to unlock the key by guessing your backup password — so a strong, non-reused password is the protection that matters most against that scenario. If you lose access to your account, or forget your backup password and no longer have a device that holds the unlocked key, your Cloud Backups are permanently unrecoverable. We cannot recover them for you, because we never receive your backup password.
  • Deletion. Deleting your Cashflow account via Settings → Account → Delete Account permanently removes your cloud backups and account profile from our servers. See the Data Deletion Request page.

In-app purchases and ads

The free version of Cashflow displays advertising. The paid version removes advertising and may include additional features. In-app purchases, where offered, are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play; your payment terms with those stores apply, and refunds are handled according to their policies.

Disclaimer of warranties

The Cashflow apps and the website are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the apps or website will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components, or that any data, including Cloud Backup data, will be preserved or recoverable. You use Cashflow at your own risk.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the apps or the website, including any loss of, or inability to recover, Cloud Backup data. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some of these limitations may not apply to you.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the Effective Date and Updated dates shown at the top of this page, and — where re-acceptance is appropriate — the apps may ask you to review and accept the updated Terms. Your continued use of Cashflow after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
