Data Deletion Request

  • Effective date 2026-04-18
  • Last updated 2026-06-19

This page explains what data Cashflow holds about you and how to delete it. It is provided to satisfy the data-deletion-request requirement of the App Store and Google Play.

In this page, “we”, “us”, and “our” have the meaning given in the Privacy Policy and the Terms of Service — William Tyler, the developer of Cashflow, and any successor or assign.

What data Cashflow holds about you

The Cashflow mobile apps for iOS and Android store your financial data — accounts, transactions, categories, scheduled transactions, and app settings — on your device by default. Under normal use, this data stays on your device, and unless you enable Cloud Backup (below), we do not have a copy of it.

The one exception is Cloud Backup, an optional feature you turn on by signing in with a Cashflow account. If you enable Cloud Backup, we hold your account email address, display name, and your end-to-end-encrypted backups on our servers. Those backups are encrypted with a backup password only you know — we never receive that password, so under normal operation we cannot read them (see the Privacy Policy for the full security model and its limits).

If you have created backups, those backup files live in one or more of the following places:

  • On your device, if you saved a local backup file (under your control).
  • In Dropbox, if you connected Dropbox and saved a backup there (in your own Dropbox account, under your control).
  • In Cashflow Cloud Backup, on our servers (hosted on Google Cloud), end-to-end encrypted, if you’ve enabled Cloud Backup.

The website (cashflow.ndl.cc) does not require an account. Website analytics (Google Analytics 4 pageview data) and any support correspondence you’ve sent us are the only forms of data we may hold that are tied to you.

How to delete data on your device

Uninstall the app. Removing Cashflow from your device deletes the local database along with it — every account, transaction, scheduled item, and setting is removed. Nothing Cashflow stored is left behind on the device.

This permanently removes the in-app data. There is no undo, so export a backup first if you want to keep a copy (see Backup & Restore).

How to delete your backups

Cashflow Cloud Backup:

Open Cashflow → Settings → Account → Delete Account. This permanently deletes all of your cloud backups and your account profile (backup metadata + encryption-key references) from our servers. It cannot be undone.

The other backup destinations live in your own storage, not ours:

Local backup file:

Delete the backup file from wherever you saved it on your device. Uninstalling the app also removes any local backup data the app stored on the device.

Dropbox:

  1. Open Dropbox (the app or dropbox.com).
  2. Find the Cashflow backup file (in the Apps/Cashflow folder, or wherever you chose to save it).
  3. Delete it, then empty Dropbox’s Deleted files to remove it permanently.

After cleanup, no backup file remains in your storage.

How to request deletion of any data we hold

Under normal use, the Cashflow mobile apps keep your financial data on your device, so for most users there is little on our side to delete. The data we may hold is:

  • Cloud Backup data — if you have a Cashflow account with Cloud Backup enabled, we hold your account email address, display name, and your end-to-end-encrypted backups (encrypted with your backup password, which we never receive, so we cannot read them under normal operation — see the Privacy Policy). You can delete all of this instantly yourself via Settings → Account → Delete Account (see above), or request deletion using the steps below.
  • Website analytics — anonymous pageview data collected by Google Analytics 4. If you are a California or EU/UK resident exercising your right to deletion, we can request that this analytics data be removed.
  • Support correspondence — any email you have sent us. We retain support email for as long as needed to help resolve issues.

To request deletion of any of these, open Cashflow on your device and go to Settings → Send Feedback. Pick General Feedback as the type and start your message with “Data deletion request”. Include enough information for us to find what we hold about you (the email address, if any, you used for previous correspondence). We aim to complete deletion within 30 days of receiving the request and will confirm once it is done.
